Get Started
There are three ways to start using KEC Makerspace. Whether you want to get trained on a specific tool, just drop in and work, or add a second certification. Here's how it works.
Get Equipment Access
Express interest, visit, complete safety training + equipment training, pass a short quiz, and get certified to use the tool independently.
Just Use the Space
No equipment in mind? Walk in, complete the one-time safety training, and use the design workstations and collaboration space freely.
Learn Another Tool
Already certified on one machine? Safety training is done, just book a training session for the new equipment and take the quiz.
Getting Certified on Equipment
For students who want to independently use a specific piece of equipment.
Express Your Interest
Fill out the interest form to tell us which equipment you want to train on and give us your contact details so we can schedule a time.
Safety Training & Liability Waiver
On your first visit to the Makerspace, every student completes a lab safety training session and signs a liability waiver. This only happens once and you won't need to repeat it for future equipment or visits.
Equipment Training Session
A trainer will take you through hands-on operation of the equipment including how it works, correct settings, what to avoid, and what to do if something goes wrong. Training is run by our Technical Lead (Bistrit) and Training Intern (Jibi).
Training typically takes 1–2 hours depending on the equipment.
10-Minute Knowledge Quiz
After training, you'll sit a short 10-minute quiz covering the basics of operating the equipment safely. It's designed to confirm you're ready to use the machine independently and not to trick you.
Pass and you move straight to certification.
Get Certified & Start Booking
Once you pass the quiz, you're certified on that equipment. You'll get access to the booking page and can reserve time slots in advance or simply walk in during open hours and use the machine directly.
Booking Equipment
Once certified, walk in during open hours (first-come, first-served) or use the booking link to reserve a time slot in advance.
