People
Meet Our Team
The faculty, coordinators, technical leads, and students who make KEC Makerspace run and who are here to help make this your space to create.
Core Team
Prof. Hirendra Man Pradhan
Chairman & Principal,
Kathmandu Engineering College
Kathmandu Engineering College
HMP — as everyone in the team calls him — is the Chairman and Principal of
Kathmandu
Engineering College. He is the main driving force behind the Makerspace. When he's not championing
hands-on
learning, you'll find
him deep in a motivational book, plotting his next chess move, or celebrating with his IIT batch mates
(they just had a
50-year reunion. Yes, fifty years!). HMP personally loves the workshop area and has promised the team
he'll join the
next teacher's workshop. We're holding him to it. One word of warning: do not play Ludo with him. He
always wins.
ALWAYS.
Apekshya Koirala
Makerspace Coordinator
Apekshya is a computer science graduate from Anderson University, USA,
and the beating heart of the KEC Makerspace. She heads 5 out of 8 internal committees because
apparently one job just wasn't enough. Apekshya knows literally everyone at KEC, and if you have a
stalled job that needs getting done, she's your person. Her favourite thing? The students. She comes
alive after tabling events and orientation sessions. Outside the Makerspace she enjoys reading, hiking, good food, and good plays. Fun fact #1: Apekshya named herself. Fun fact #2: it's
Apek-shya, not Apek-chya. You're welcome!
Bistrit Paudel
Technical Lead
Kathmandu Engineering College Alumni
Kathmandu Engineering College Alumni
Bistrit is a civil engineer who recently graduated from KEC and was part of
the student roundtable that started it allback
in 2025. He joined as a summer intern and quickly levelled up to technical lead. He is also an
assistant lecturer at the KEC civil engineering department. His actual favourite thing here? The
electronics station! He believes that challenges are meant for your growth, and built the Solder,
Print & Play snake
game workshop from scratch to share that love with everyone. Fun facts: Bistrit drafted the entire
makerspace floor plan in a single day, taught
himself the laser cutter
in under a month, but has somehow never figured out how to click "Yes" on a Google Calendar invite...
Prasanna Jibi Ghimire
Makerspace Intern
Kathmandu Engineering College Alumni
Kathmandu Engineering College Alumni
Prasanna Jibi Ghimire — "Jibi" to everyone — is a fresh graduate of Civil
Engineering and our 2026 intern. Though newly graduated, Jibi trains others on the 3D printer and laser cutter, and is a certified pro at
Illustrator and
Canva. Most of our posters? That's Jibi. Our merch? Also Jibi. (If you've received a "Bob" coin from
us, thank him!) In
his free time he's deep into watches and photography gear and those are just the latest in a long
list
of
rabbit holes he
loves. In his own words: "I love exploring things but haven't mastered any." The team respectfully
disagrees. Jibi has
absolutely mastered every task we have thrown his way.
Makerspace Ambassadors
Currently Hiring
We're looking for passionate KEC students to represent and grow the Makerspace community. Interested? We'd love to hear from you.
Get in Touch →Advisors
Arushi Pradhan, Ph.D
External Advisor
Arushi is a Materials Science Engineer currently doing a post-doc on
dexterous robot hands. She brings strategic
thinking and research expertise to the Makerspace as an advisor. Outside of work she enjoys reading,
a
whole range of
crafts, and travelling. Fun fact: she very nearly bought a cheap 3D printer after watching the rest
of
the team have way
too much fun with the one here. The jealousy was real, and honestly, very relatable.
Pratima Pradhan, Ph.D
Advisor
Head of Research
Kathmandu Engineering College
Head of Research
Kathmandu Engineering College
Pratima is an Electronics and Telecommunications Engineer and former CTO of
Nepal Telecom. She plays an advisory role at
the Makerspace and loves the workshop area because she's always eager to learn and teach what's new
in
tech. Outside of work she's
into gardening, interior decorating, and picking up new skills. Fun fact: a lot of the furniture and
plants you see in
the Makerspace were personally hand-picked by her. The space looks as good as it does partly because
of her eye for it.
