Makersday — KEC Makerspace
Grand Opening
A Grand Beginning
KEC Makerspace officially launched and the makerspace community in Nepal got a little bigger.
On March 20, 2026, KEC Makerspace officially opened its doors to the KEC community and beyond. Over 200 people came through for the main program and the open house, filling the space with energy, curiosity, and a lot of smiles. Faculty members who are usually seen in lecture halls were huddled around project booths, genuinely fascinated.
Among the student demos, the Arise team stole the show with their custom-built computer that powers on when you say the word "arise." The other student demo which was a Rover for Terrain Climbing and Environmental Monitoring also fascinated everyone.
Our chief guest, the Dean of IOE, noted that this is the first time a college in Nepal has created a dedicated makerspace — a meaningful moment of recognition for everything the team has worked toward. Students who came for the open house left excited, and many have already asked when they can come back and start making.
